When the mental side matters

Your training is there.
Let your confidence catch up.

When the mental side gets in the way, more hours in the saddle may not be the whole answer. Make space to work on the rider behind the performance.

01 /

Competition nerves

The warm-up feels good. Then the bell rings, your body tightens, and the ride feels different.

02 /

A setback or a new horse

A fall, refusal, or difficult ride can shake your confidence. Changing horses can bring its own challenges as you learn a new partnership and find your rhythm together.

03 /

Overthinking every stride

You second-guess distances, aids, or decisions instead of riding the plan you practiced.

04 /

Pressure to get it right

Expectations, scores, and comparison pull your attention away from your horse and the present moment.

The integrated mindset method

Train the mind
behind the ride.

Your sessions connect mental rehearsal, sports hypnosis, and practical focus routines to the moments that matter in your riding.

A few common questions about the approach, the sessions, and getting started.

What methods do you use in mental coaching?

Robert combines hypnosis, visualization, mental rehearsal, and practical coaching tools such as focus cues and reset routines. The work starts with your horse, your riding experience, and your goals, helping you move closer to your full potential.

Can we work on confidence after a fall?

You can discuss hesitation, worry, and confidence following a difficult riding experience. Mental coaching complements your trainer’s guidance and an appropriate return-to-riding plan. It does not assess physical readiness or replace medical or mental health care.

Can mental coaching help when I change horses?

Changing horses can bring unfamiliar reactions, different expectations, and a loss of the confidence you had with your previous horse. You can work with Robert on your mindset, focus, and expectations while you and your trainer build the new partnership.

Do I need to compete to work with Robert?

No. Your goals may involve competition, schooling, or feeling more settled while riding recreationally. The sessions can be shaped around your discipline, experience, and goals.

How do online sessions work?

Sessions take place privately, one-to-one over Zoom. Join from a quiet place where you can sit comfortably and speak without interruption. Mental training sessions take place off the horse.

Do you work with younger riders?

Yes. Robert has worked with athletes as young as 6 and finds that engagement with the work becomes more consistent around ages 8–10. A parent or guardian can contact him to discuss the child’s readiness, goals, and session arrangements.

What happens after I send the form?

You will reach the consultation booking page, where you can choose an available time. The initial consultation is free and lasts about 20 minutes. Ask about the approach, private sessions, and fees before deciding whether to continue.

How quickly will I see a change?

Progress depends on your goals, circumstances, and practice between sessions. Robert can discuss a starting plan and how you will review progress together. Results and timelines vary.
